Kate Watkins - Printmaker
I have been producing prints for many years and have a fascination for the variety of techniques which fall under the umbrella of printmaking. As with many printmakers I am fascintated by the process and often switch between methods depending on which is most suited to the subject matter and style of work I'm creating. Work shown here features lino, relief, etching, solar plate, gocco and silkscreen methods alongside newer digital printmaking techniques.
Whist I enjoy the freedom to explore a broad range of subject matter from the silly to the serious I have recently focused on coastal landscapes. I have tried to recreate aspects of the hampshire coastline in both figurative and abstract ways, for example, beach huts, worn and eroded surfaces and beach ephemera
I regularly exhibit work in local and national exhibitions alongside teaching art and photography at a sixth form college in Hampshire.
